OhmConnect customer Christaline F knew when the COVID pandemic hit in early 2020 that she and her team might be in for a rough time ahead.

Leading a team of 40 medical staff at the Alexian Homeless Clinic in San Jose, Christaline’s patients were some of the hardest hit. She and her team worked tirelessly during the pandemic to provide testing, care and vaccines to those in shelters and encampments.

“We work with one of the most vulnerable populations so this has been a very hard year,” Christaline said.

To recognize her and her team’s heroism during this time, OhmConnect has awarded her the prize of 1 million Watts in our Thanks a Million campaign.

“I was really surprised and grateful to hear that I’d been chosen,” she said. “My team has been working incredibly hard over the past year and deserves to be recognized. I’m just one person out of many.”

Growing up in a community without great access to resources, Christaline knew she wanted to give back. She has worked with vulnerable populations for more than 16 years now. Despite discussions with her team where they shared their fears about the pandemic, Christaline and every one of her teammates chose to remain in their roles during the incredibly stressful time.

“Of course I was scared - I have family too,” she said. “But this is what I signed up for. Firemen will run into a burning house and doctors go into hospitals and settings where there are germs - it’s what we’ve got to do. Everyone is less safe if there aren’t healthcare workers to stand up and do this work.”

Her commitment to doing the right thing doesn’t stop in her workplace. Christaline joined OhmConnect to do her part for the environment after witnessing how hard California has been hit by Climate Change these past few years.

“With OhmConnect I feel like I’m contributing to something I usually feel pretty powerless over. I’m just one person but with OhmConnect, I’m part of a community. There are a lot of people doing something together and that can have a wonderful impact.”

From all of us, thank you for your heroism Christaline and the team at the Valley Homeless Healthcare Program.
