OhmConnect Security

Here at OhmConnect, security and privacy of your energy data are one of our most important priorities.

In a world where data breaches can compromise your personal online safety, we make it our job to ensure your information is stored securely and will never ask you for credit card or banking information in order to reward you for your energy savings.  All you need is a PayPal account.

Why does OhmConnect need access to my utility data?

OhmConnect rewards you for saving energy when it matters most to the grid and the environment. In order to measure your home’s specific energy savings, we require access to your home’s smart meter data, which your utility manages. Sharing your utility credentials with a safe authentication process authorizes OhmConnect to access your smart meter data, so we can credit you appropriately for all the energy you’re saving.

How does OhmConnect secure and protect my data?

At OhmConnect, your data security is top of mind and we use the strongest security protocols at every junction. All sensitive information is encrypted through robust AES 256 bit CBC encryption algorithms and stored on servers that comply with the highest security standards such as SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC3, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and ISO 27018. Your utility company and the energy market (CAISO) will cross-check and verify the data so that you can be rewarded for participating in OhmHours and AutoOhms.
