Prize OhmHour Winner Wins Without Knowing She’d Participated in a Prize OhmHour!

For Sophia E from San Diego, OhmConnect is simply a way to do something good for the planet. 

“I signed up about a year ago and it seemed cool because it’s an easy way to do something nice for the world,” she explained. “It allows me to use cleaner energy which is something we desperately need to do. We’re killing the earth so that’s the main reason I do #OhmHours. If I also get a kickback to help me pay my electric bill - that’s just a bonus!” 

This week, her good karma towards the world came back to her in a big way when her name was called on our biweekly broadcast as the winner of our latest Prize OhmHour giveaway; her rent or mortgage paid for the month.

The best part? She hadn’t even realized that she was eligible for the prize! 

“To be honest, I hadn’t looked that closely at the email so I didn’t even realize my name was in the sweepstakes!”

Living in a 1-bedroom, low-rise condo in San Diego, Sophia normally uses #OhmHours as a chance to get out of the house and get some exercise. 

“I turn pretty much everything off in the apartment - the only thing I leave on is my fridge,” she said. “I find the easiest way is to just get out of the house and go for a walk or use that as my night to go out for dinner. Normally it forces me to get some exercise which is a good thing!”

“I couldn’t believe it when I got the email saying I’d won - it almost seemed too easy,” she said with a laugh. “My boyfriend kept saying not to count my chickens before they hatched but the prize money was in my bank account in less than 24 hours. I keep thinking I need to pinch myself!”
