Southern California resident Dallas Y. has been a member of the OhmConnect community for the past two years and tunes in to our live “Power In Numbers” broadcast whenever she can.
“I watch you guys all the time. It’s strange, but I feel like I know you!”
This week, her Sunday afternoon broadcast viewing scored her a $100 cash prize as she was chosen as the winner of the trivia game, “Minute To Win It & Learn”.
(Haven’t heard of Minute to Win It & Learn? It’s a trivia challenge we do on every live Facebook broadcast where we give $100 to one lucky viewer who correctly answers an energy-related trivia question. “Like” the OhmConnect Facebook page to be notified when we go live!)
Living with her daughter in a four-bedroom home in a rural area near Temecula, Dallas first joined OhmConnect after she read about it as a way to save money on the Penny Hoarder blog.
The prize money from her trivia game win went towards bringing her daughter’s birthday party to life, this past weekend.
“We love the program and the timing of the $100 win was perfect,” she explained. “Money is always a little tight after Christmas and as we approach tax time and my daughter’s birthday falls right around the same time so to be chosen as the winner was a really happy surprise.”
OhmHours in their home are typically spent reading by candlelight or simply having quiet time with no TV or electronics.
“Sometimes we’re not even home if the OhmHour happens while my daughter has gymnastics but if we are home, we really enjoy it as a time to unplug and do some reading.”
“Although I originally signed up as a way to make a bit of extra money, I really love that it also means that we’re doing a little bit of good for the world.”
