MEGA Summer Prize Winner Replaces Car With Prize Winnings

James R was sitting at a red light at an intersection in April when his car was rear-ended, rendering it unusable. 

His family had been delaying finding a replacement because finding the money to do so wasn’t in the cards. 

That is, until his wife Meghan’s name was called as the winner of our latest MEGA Summer prize -- a Peloton bike, or the cash equivalent of $3000. 

“This is such a blessing,” Meghan said on the phone last week. “We had been saving up and this prize means we will be able to replace the car.” 

Meghan and her family are Menifee residents who have been OhmConnect customers for just less than two years. With a 2800 square foot home and two little ones, they are always looking for ways to save money on their electric bill. 

“I heard about OhmConnect from a friend and neither of us knew if it was a real thing. I decided to give it a shot and now we love it. I wasn’t really paying attention to our energy usage before we started using OhmConnect and now it’s just such an easy way to get some money back from what we pay for our electric bill.” 

Making OhmHours a family affair 

When an OhmHour is called, Meghan and her family have a set routine in place. 

“The kids know what to do when it’s an OhmHour,” she said. “We make sure our smart thermostat is off and then I’ll go around and unplug all our major appliances and we all go out to the backyard. Sometimes we’ll have a BBQ or go get frozen yogurt or go to the park - we just know that for that hour, we need to be outside the house.”
