An OhmConnect winner story: Saving energy in bulk

Jim W. from Irvine, CA  has been an OhmConnect member for nearly four years. He lives in a single family home with his wife and child and remembers seeing an ad on social media touting the energy and money savings and rewards OhmConnect had to offer and thought to give it a go. Who knew those rewards would eventually include a $1,500 Costco Cash Card won from their Rewards Marketplace?! 

When we reached out to Jim, we got to refresh his memory that he had spent some 4,000 Watts on 20 prize entries. He had just cashed out and decided to use the remaining Watts to win this Costco Cash Card. He told us the first thing he said when he received the winning email was, “Wait, is this for real?” and then proceeded to call his wife to tell her the good news.

Jim and his family routinely participate in OhmConnect energy-saving events (called OhmHours and AutoOhms) and love that their smart plugs and smart thermostat can do most of the work for them. They also routinely make the adventurous trip to Costco so this prize was right up their alley. Who doesn’t love bulk energy savings when it can lead to free bulk shopping?

As we wrapped up our conversation, Jim told me, “OhmConnect is pretty behind the scenes the way that everything is set up. Smart plugs help me personally as I use them to save energy outside of OhmHours as well. Saving electricity without doing much has led to a very good experience up to this point.”
