How can OhmConnect Energy pay me to save energy?

During periods of high demand on the energy grid (a hot summer day when air conditioners are blasting, for example), we give you the opportunity to reduce your energy usage and help reduce stress on the system. We "sell" the power our customers save back to the grid, and then pass those rewards to you. The grid stays balanced, the lights stay on, and you get paid. That's a smarter way to use energy.

Energy-saving events (called OhmHour or AutoOhms)

OhmHours and AutoOhms are when the big savings happen! OhmHours happen when the grid predicts an energy demand surge coming in your neighborhood within the next 24 hours. We'll let you know that an OhmHour is coming up (via SMS, email, or app notification), and you can plan to save as much energy as you can to earn maximum rewards. Even better? Automatic energy-saving events called AutoOhms! That’s when we detect a real-time price spike and can automatically power down any smart device (like a smart thermostat or smart plug) that you’ve connected to OhmConnect, saving you energy and earning you rewards, without you lifting a finger.

Need that energy? No problem. We make it easy to opt out of either event if you don't wish to participate. Simple, right?

How much you earn with OhmConnect Energy is up to you. The smarter you are with your energy choices, the more you'll save.

If you're an OhmConnect Energy customer, you have a status level. It's determined by your usage of energy during the previous 5 days during energy saving events. The higher your status, the bigger your discount in the Rewards Marketplace!

You're fully enrolled and ready to start participating in OhmHours.

You'll reach gold status when your average energy reduction is 15%.

You'll reach platinum status when your average energy reduction is 40%.

You'll reach diamond status when your average energy reduction is 80%.
