Before you install your new Nest Thermostat, please ensure that the device is compatible with your home's heating and cooling system. Click [here](https://store.google.com/us/widget/compatibility/thermostat?hl=en-US&GoogleNest) to confirm compatibility.

  

The Google Home app provides detailed step-by-step instructions that make it easy to install and wire your Nest thermostat. 

### How to Install Your Nest Thermostat

1.  Ensure you have the latest version of the Google Home app before you begin the process. You can download it from the [Apple App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-home/id680819774) or [Google Play.](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.chromecast.app&hl=en_US&gl=US) If you don't already have an account with Google (aka Gmail account), the app will ask you to create one.   
      
    
2.  Open the Google Home app, log in with your Google Account, and then tap "+" on the top left corner of the home screen.   
      
    
3.  Select +Set up device to start the installation process.  
      
    
4.  Select New device and add or select your home address and tap on Next.  
      
    
5.  The app will scan for your Wi-Fi. If it does not locate it, select 'Thermostat' and follow the on-screen prompts. You can also scan the QR code on the back of the physical Nest device or,  if you know which thermostat model you have, please choose 'Continue without scanning' and enter the 6-digit setup code on the back of the thermostat.   
      
    
6.  The Google Home App will guide you through how to install and set up your Nest Thermostat step-by-step. You will be prompted with questions regarding your thermostat wires. Answer them as accurately as possible. You'll also receive a custom wiring diagram for your system once you've installed the thermostat base.
