## We've compiled a list of our member's top tips and tricks to save energy and earn maximum rewards during OhmHour and AutoOhm events. Read on for ways to save more energy!

### 1\. Connect and link a smart thermostat to your OhmConnect account.

Not only will it help you save on your monthly energy bills (to the tune of ~$140 per year, according to Google Nest!) but when connected to OhmConnect, your device will power down automatically — helping you save energy without lifting a finger.

### 2\. Link one or multiple smart plugs.

Wi-Fi connected smart plugs allow you to control your electronic devices from your mobile device and, when linked to OhmConnect, power down automatically and save energy during OhmHours and AutoOhms. Connect them to your home's biggest energy hogs for maximum earnings!

> "Pretty much all of my most energy intensive appliances and electronics are connected to my account. When an OhmHour happens, everything kind of shuts off on its own and I don’t really have to do anything. Sometimes the only way I remember an OhmHour is happening is when I open the fridge and realize it’s off!” - Justin C., Oceanside, CA.

### 3\. Unplug, then leave the house.

Sitting around the house when your power is off can be trickier than it sounds. Do what Meghan R. from Menifee, CA does to save energy and take the time to get outside!

> “The kids know what to do when it’s an OhmHour,” she said. “We'll go around and unplug all our major appliances and we all go out to the backyard. Sometimes we’ll have a BBQ or go get frozen yogurt or go to the park - we just know that for that hour, we need to be outside the house.”

### 4\. Be consistent.

By saving energy during every single energy-saving event, you will level up your Status, and ultimately earn more rewards during future events.

>  "My best tip is to stick with it!" says Megan H. from Chico, CA

### 5\. Shift your use of energy-hogging appliances.

If you have an energy-saving event coming up, start the laundry or the dishwasher an hour later, or better yet, overnight. If you’re on a Time of Use plan, your energy bill will thank you, too.

> “Not only am I making extra cash, but I’m not incurring any costs from SCE during that time either. I’m making money and saving money at the same time, which my husband and I can really get behind.” - Julie M, from Temecula, CA.

### 6\. Work together to save even more.

Get your household together and determine which appliances and electronics you’ll use during the event and which you'll use prior to or following the event. Jennifer C. from Victorville, brings her whole family in on the action. Their dedication paid off and they won an ENERGY STAR fridge!

> "My kids used to hate it and they thought I was wasting my time but now they don’t!”

### 7\. Check with your utility company

Utility companies have a wealth of knowledge on energy saving tips and available rebates, programs and incentives.

> “Connect with your local utility. There are lots of programs that help you find energy saving devices and appliances. We try to let our customers know what rebates are out there that they qualify for.” - Janice R, OhmConnect customer from San Diego.
