# Connect Your OhmPlug to the OhmPlug App

## Follow this guide to connect your OhmPlug to the OhmPlug app

Before connecting your OhmPlug to the OhmPlug app, first decide which appliance you want to attach the plug to. During the set-up process, the button on the plug will need to be accessible, so we recommend finding an outlet that is in a convenient location, or in the room closest to where you plan to use the plug after set-up.

### Before we begin:

*   Download and install the OhmPlug app from the [App Store](https://www.apple.com/ca/app-store/) or [Google Play.](https://play.google.com/store/apps?hl=en&pli=1)  
      
    
*   Connect your smartphone to your home Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz if separate)

### Follow these steps to link your OhmPlug:

1.  **Login** to the OhmPlug app using your OhmConnect login information.  
      
    
2.  After logging in with your OhmConnect email and password, ensure you allow permissions for both **Location** and **Local Network.**  
      
    
3.  Tap the blue **+** circle in the top right corner to Add device.

4.  Tap **Setup Wi-Fi**. Ensure your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz if separate) and tap **Use this Wi-Fi network**.  
      
    
5.  Enter your Wi-Fi password, tap **Save password**, and **\+ Add device**.  
      
    **To note:** When entering your Wi-Fi password, the app will not notify you if entered incorrectly and the pairing will fail. So, it is important you take the time to enter your Wi-Fi password correctly before clicking Save password.  
      
    
6.  Follow the instructions in the OhmPlug app by tapping **Next Step** to put your OhmPlug into pairing mode. After plugging in the OhmPlug, press and hold the power button on the right side of the plug for about 6 seconds until the light starts blinking (twice per second).

7.  When the light on the plug begins to blink fast (twice per second), tap **The light is blinking**. The app will begin searching for devices.  
      
    
8.  When the OhmPlug v2.0 is found, tap the blue **\+ Add** button to begin pairing.  
      
    
9.  Once paired, select **Back to My Home**, where you will now see the OhmPlug v2.0 Online. To turn the plug on and off, tap the **ON**/**OFF** circle to the left of OhmPlug v2.0. Solid blue light is ON, and no light on the plug is OFF.  
      
    

### What to do if pairing was unsuccessful 

If the initial attempt to pair is not successful, select Get Help for a list of trouble shooting recommendations. 

Typically when pairing fails, the light on the plug was not blinking during setup, the Saved Wi-Fi password is incorrect, or you have two separate Wi-Fi networks and are connected to the 5 GHZ.
