This article walks you through how to connect your Nest Thermostat to your WiF. It will also show you how to reset your wireless network settings on your Nest Thermostat, and start over if you have to:

  • Connect your thermostat to an existing WiFi network.
  • Connect your thermostat to a hidden WiFi network.
  • Reset your thermostat network settings and reconnect to a new/changed WiFi network.

Note. All steps below are performed directly on your Nest Thermostat.


Option 1: Connect Nest Thermostat to existing WiFi network.

  1. Press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Choose Network.
  4. Your thermostat will take a moment to scan for available networks. Choose your home Wi-Fi Network from the list.
  5. Enter your password if prompted


Option 2: Connect Nest Thermostat to existing hidden WiFi network.

You may need to perform the steps below if your WiFi is hidden or not showing up in the list.

  1. Press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose Network.
  4. Select Type Network Name. You may need to turn the ring past the list of WiFi networks nearby to see this option.
  5. Turn the ring to highlight a letter, number, or symbol and press to select to enter your WiFi network's name. Tap Shift to switch between lowercase and uppercase letters. Tap 123 to switch to numbers, symbols, and accents. Tap ABC to switch back to letters.If you accidentally select a character, use Backspace ⌫ to delete the last character entered. If you want to go back and choose a different network, select Back.
  6. Select the check mark once you enter your network name.
  7. Enter your Wi-Fi network password.

Option 3: Reset the Wi-Fi information on your Nest Thermostat.

You may want to perform the steps below if you've changed your WiFi network or WiFi password.

  1. Press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Choose Network.
  5. Select Reset to confirm.
